Brand Identity Refresh
Our collaboration with the Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) began in 2022 and has grown into a trusted creative partnership, continuing through the evolution of Studio E. In 2023, we were tasked with a significant brand identity refresh — a challenge that required aligning BCT’s visual language with the NSW Government’s non-corporate Masterbrand guidelines.
The existing branding was non-compliant, so we started from the ground up. With access to the broader NSW Government colour palette, we selected a grounded, earthy green and brown scheme that reflected the natural environments BCT works to protect. Through a collaborative and iterative process, we developed a suite of design elements — from icons and maps to infographics and layouts — that paired beautifully with the new palette. The outcome was a refreshed identity rooted in clarity, accessibility, and a deep connection to place, formalised in a comprehensive 29-page brand guide.
One of the key applications of this new identity was the bi-annual Understory magazine — a 20-page publication that highlights BCT’s conservation work, partnerships, and community stories across the state.
The latest edition of the magazine is available to view online here.
